I am happy to see people are using the donation link for their birthday donations. It's fast, easy, no check writing, and no paper shuffling. Just click on the Foundation link on our website.
Last week I said the video was done. I should have said almost done! Club members showed me two name misspellings. The fix is in process. Charlie Brown created a great, targeted promotion plan for the video. Just waiting on the final edits and then we will launch on social media. Please like it and share it if you see it.
I created a new MeetUp.com group for us: "The Addison Rotary Club" and posted our meeting dates. MeetUp works for some other clubs to attract members, so I thought we should try it again. If you have a few minutes, it would be helpful if you would create your own MeetUp account (it's free) and sign up for our meeting dates. That will provide some social proof for the meetings. Otherwise it looks like no one is attending.
Anyone have experience creating short videos? I'd like to create some about our volunteer activities and post them on social media.
On Wednesday, January 22, eight Addison Rotarians and two significant others worked to prepare and serve dinner for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. The menu was shepherd's pie, roasted veggies, salad, and chocolate chip cookies.
Information About Donating to California Fire Victims Through Rotary
Anyone who wants to make a donation to support the California relief effort to support the wildfire victims might check out the website of the Altadena Rotary Club: www.altadenarotary.org
Donations made here go to a 501(c)3 organization called Altadena Rotary Charities, and they guarantee that 100% of the money goes to the relief effort.
Trivia answer: 1989. This is after the U.S. Supreme Court weighed in on the matter, saying that Rotary clubs could not exclude women based on gender in 1987.
(Previously, the California Supreme Court had sided with Rotary, saying women could be excluded)
