Lisa Marshall: Fighting Homelessness

This week we will meet Lisa Marshall, the Founder and CEO of Fighting Homelessness.  It is a non-profit she started to identify and challenge city, state, and federal policies that perpetuate homelessness, and to propose effective solutions for change.  She will tell us about her organization and its goals, plans, and achievements.

Save The Dates!

The Addison Rotary Club turned 40 in August, but it would have been difficult to celebrate while we were planning the tournament, so our celebration was postponed. Greg Grimm is planning a BLOWOUT for October 30. SAVE THE DATE!

Also... Mike Pugh lined up a very cool volunteer opportunity for us with the March of Dimes Signature Chefs Tasting and Auction! Sounds delicious! October 10. Contact Mike to reserve your spot.

Notes from David

When I became club president I set three goals for us  to accomplish this year:
  1. Raise a lot of money for the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas
  2. Grow our net membership by at least 10%
  3. Have fun!
All the numbers aren't in yet, but clearly our first goal is done. Well done!

We're doing a good job with the third goal.

So now I'd like us to focus on membership growth. We are a great club. We contribute to our local community, we help kids and families, we support each other, and we support charitable activities in other countries. Unfortunately, like many clubs, we've seen a membership decline since 2017. If we don't grow our membership we will, at some point, have to merge with another club or close our doors. None of us want to see that happen. If you believe in service above self then you must believe that growing our membership is important; with more members we can provide more service and we will ensure our club is vital force in the future. Wendy Seale, our Membership Chair, is doing a great job with this, but she needs all of us to step up and make membership growth a priority.

Stay tuned. See you Friday!

Make it a great day!
