Two Weeks to Go!

Greg Grimm still needs more items for the auction: restaurant certificates, sporting event tickets, more golf outings and services like massages and experiences.

Don't forget to attend our club organization meeting for the ARO on September 6 (the Friday before the ARO).

Contact Fritzie Roop to get your volunteer slot for the ARO on September 9.

Addison Rotary Volunteers at Trusted World
Service Chair Mike Pugh arranged a volunteer session at Trusted World for August 22. Gary Carby, Mike Pugh, Cyndy Heimer, and David Heimer attended. The four volunteers sorted shoes. In 3 hours, the Rotarians sorted shoes for 130 people!

Notes from David...

We're famous! Janet Meyer got us published in the September issue of Rotary Magazine! You can find it on page 58. By the way... Janet did something my Marketing colleagues say to do: use the big number. "Over the past 34 years the tournament has raised more than $4 million dollars..."  THANK YOU, JANET!

We're working on a District Matching Grant to buy Chromebooks for the Anne Frank Elementary school that serves the Addison community. The guaranteed portion of the matching grant is $1745. Our contribution has been approved by the Addison Rotary Foundation.  Thank you Frank Swingle and the ARF Board for moving on this so quickly. To get our matching grant we have to:
  • Approve the expenditure. (DONE!)
  • Put membership and financial goals into the RI website. (DONE!)
  • Create and sign the Memorandum of Understanding. (DONE!)
  • Create and sign the District Grant Application. (IN PROCESS)
  • Turn in all of the above before September 1.
  • Complete the project and file the project report.
Thanks to Mike Pugh for making contact with the Anne Frank Elementary school administration. We'll need some club volunteers to complete this project (probably in October.)

I am delighted that Hamid Khaleghipour submitted an application to join our Rotary Club. (Way to go, Wendy Seale!) Hamid has an impressive 27-year career in leadership at the City of Addison. He will be a wonderful member! The Addison Rotary Club Board approved his application, so we are in the 10-day waiting period. He will be at our meeting this Friday. Please make sure he feels welcome.

If you haven't downloaded the Clubrunner app onto your phone, please do so. It has a lot of useful functions including our club directory. You can phone or text members directly from the app.

John Johnstone, our District Assistant Governor, attended our meeting last week. He will look for some District funding for our membership video project.

Reminder from last week: If you have any suggestions, questions, schedule, or information about Maguire’s and our meeting room, please work through Fritzie. She graciously agreed to be our Single Point of Contact with Maguire's.

See you Friday!

 Make it a great day!
 --David
