Private violence is pervasive. It's found in all age groups, all races and all economic statuses. In Texas in 2014 when I was laying the foundation for Families to Freedom, there were more than 14,800 unmet needs for shelter in Texas according to the National Network to End Domestic Violence. Today, the Texas Council on Family Violence reports as many as 78% of eligible callers to emergency shelter hotlines in mega-cities (such as Dallas and Houston) are turned away due to a lack of space. Families to Freedom is here is expand a victim's search for safety and help them arrive to that new safe place!
Rotary is truly International!
Nancy Smith shared these pictures of the historic Lyon footprint, sculpted by Dan Ohlmann and given to the people of Lyon by the Rotary Clubs there. Lyon is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Thank you, Nancy, for sharing how Rotary is a vibrant presence throughout the globe.
