Our Speaker: David Evaul

Mr. Evaul is a tax attorney of long standing, most recently a senior partner at Jones, Day.  He then became a partner at DiMarini Sports, manufacturing baseball and softball bats.  When DiMarini sold to Wilson in 2000, Mr. Evaul became a principal at Valad Plus Investment Advisors, which he has done since that time.  He will speak to us on “26 Investment Observations.”

If you have any pictures from the ARO, would you send them to me (David) please? We're going to submit a article to the district bragging about the ARO. Pictures would make the article even better!

A Surprising Email...

I sent thank you emails to my friends who bought raffle tickets and one of them responded with a long email that I've edited below.

Even though it’s just with a small donation, I’m always happy to help if I can, but really it’s amazing people like you that make a huge difference, with donating not just your time, but by putting your heart (and energy) into helping to make things better for others, especially with doing the work that goes into all of the service/fundraising efforts you all do!

Whenever I see your Rotary posts, I smile remembering Jean Yadley.  Jean was wonderful man I worked with…  He passed away two years ago at 101. His was an exciting and adventurous life very well lived!  And he was a dedicated Rotarian who had 64 years of perfect attendance at Rotary!  He and his sweet wife Ruth traveled all over the world. I can remember him planning their trips (old school, with travel books, paper maps and no internet) where he always made sure he knew where to find a Rotary meeting, no matter the country (or continent!) he was traveling to.

Jean’s obituary highlights many of his interests and accolades, but more than anything, he was such a kind man:  https://www.segalfuneralhome.com/obituaries/jean-yadley.

Good kind people like you (and my old friend Jean) who enjoy helping others, because that is who you are. Thank you for helping to make the world a better place!!

Wow, 101 years old, 64 years of perfect attendance! He always found a Rotary meeting, wherever he went. Which reminds me... there is a new documentary out called "Join or Die." (https://www.joinordiefilm.com/) Sound ominous, but their point is that we have a loneliness epidemic in the developed world, and clubs are a solution. People who join clubs live longer. They report greater satisfaction with their lives. And they make the world a better place.  Keep that in mind when you invite people to join the Addison Rotary. You're not just improving our club, you're making their lives better!
