This list is incomplete, but I wanted to call out a few individual initiatives from our club members that are making a difference in the world.
John Gilchrist suggested, justified, explained, and managed our $11,000 donation to the Guerrero Clinic for a Keratometer. He wrote the district matching fund request which will defray our donation by about $1500.
Diane Fullingim found out that Metrocrest Services needed wine for their "Wine Pull" at their fundraising banquet. We agreed to pay for it, Diane purchased the wine, and we gave it to Gabe Madison, the Metrocrest Services CEO in our meeting.
At that same meeting Gabe discussed the issues with SNAP benefits and the resulting food insecurity. Janet Meyer asked that we donate to Metrocrest Services to help them provide food, and the Addison Rotary Foundation Board did so!
Taylor Meek asked for volunteers for a luncheon that helps train adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We had about 8 Rotary Club Members attend -- it was great! (Also, how often do you get to volunteer just by eating?)
Schalee Sanchez set up a meeting with the Business Development Director for the Legends (NBA development league team). The potential results from that are: a district fundraiser, donations for the ARO, and golfers for the ARO.
What a great club! Keep it going!
