The Addison Rotary Club donated $11,000 to the Guerrero Surgery Center for a state-of-the-art keratometer, significantly expanding the center’s ability to diagnose and treat vision conditions for thousands of patients.
The Guerrero Surgery Center, located in Guerrero, Chihuahua, Mexico, is a free medical clinic serving uninsured and underinsured individuals, providing essential healthcare services to some of the region’s most vulnerable residents. This new diagnostic equipment will enhance the clinic’s ophthalmic capabilities and improve access to quality eye care for patients who might otherwise go untreated.

“This investment will have a lasting impact,” said David Heimer, President of the Addison Rotary Club. “Vision care is foundational to quality of life, education, and employment. By supporting the Guerrero Surgery Center with this equipment, we’re helping ensure thousands of patients receive accurate diagnoses and better outcomes for years to come.”
The donation reflects the Addison Rotary Club’s ongoing commitment to community health, service, and international humanitarian ideals.

A keratometer is a precision medical instrument used to measure the curvature of the cornea—the clear front surface of the eye. These measurements are critical for diagnosing conditions such as astigmatism, fitting corrective lenses, and identifying corneal abnormalities that can affect vision quality. The addition of this advanced technology will allow clinicians to make faster, more accurate assessments and deliver more effective treatment.
“This keratometer will dramatically improve our capacity to serve patients,” said Robert Yudkin, Administrator of the Guerrero Surgery Center. “We are deeply grateful to the Addison Rotary Club for recognizing this need and stepping forward to make such a meaningful difference.”
