The Addison Rotary Club recently welcomed leaders from Project Mom Bags, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting mothers whose babies are receiving care in the cardiac intensive care unit. Following their presentation, the club awarded a $1,000 grant to help provide comfort bags for moms navigating one of the most difficult experiences a parent can face.

Project Mom Bags provides thoughtfully packed bags filled with comfort items, hygiene essentials, snacks, postpartum recovery supplies, resources, and words of encouragement. Each bag costs approximately $150 to assemble and is designed to remind mothers of critically ill babies that they are seen, supported, and not alone.

“Our club was deeply moved by the mission of Project Mom Bags,” said David Heimer, President of the Addison Rotary Club. “When a baby is in the cardiac ICU, the focus is understandably on the child’s urgent medical needs. Project Mom Bags steps into that space and cares for the moms — offering dignity, comfort, and encouragement during an incredibly stressful journey.”
The $1,000 grant from the Addison Rotary Club will help Project Mom Bags provide additional bags to mothers spending long days and nights beside their children in the hospital.

The presentation was led by Project Mom Bags representatives Amber Bogardus, Laura Hardy-Falls, and Emily Morrow, who shared the organization’s mission and the impact these bags have on families during extended cardiac ICU stays.
Project Mom Bags’ mission is simple but powerful: to make sure moms of critically ill babies feel cared for, supported, and remembered.
